How it works

How the resume match check works

The checker reads both documents the way Seera Career Mode reads a resume and a live job, then scores them with the same formula it uses to rank thousands of postings. How AI matches resumes to job descriptions, step by step.

01 / Your resume

Reads who you are

The role you should be searched as, your seniority, your years of experience, your degree and the concrete skills you use, with recent roles counting more than old ones.

02 / The job

Reads what it asks for

The level and job family from its title, the years and the advanced degree it requires, and the specific skills it names. Perks, company blurbs and equal-opportunity text are ignored.

03 / The level

Scores them together

The job title counts most, then the required skills and how closely the two documents describe the same work, then seniority and job family. Falling short on years or degree lowers the level.

Match levels

Strong, Good, Stretch or Weak: what your level means

You get a level and the reasons behind it, not a percentage. A precise-looking number would promise more than any matcher can deliver. We measured how accurate these levels are.

Strong

Apply

Role, seniority and skills line up on paper. Check the gaps it lists before you send it.

Good

Worth it, with work

Most of what the job asks for is there. Address the missing skills in your resume or cover letter.

Stretch

A reach

Some core requirements are not on your resume yet. Apply with eyes open, or close the gap first.

Weak

A different profile

The job asks for something your resume does not show. Career Mode would not show it to you as a match.

What it is not

Not an ATS score, and not a resume rewriter

  • It is not an ATS keyword score.Applicant tracking systems do not give resumes one universal score, and every employer sets theirs up differently. This compares your resume with the posting on what a recruiter reads first: the role, the required skills, seniority, years and degree.
  • It does not rewrite your resume. It tells you where you fall short so you can decide what to change. The missing-skills list is the place to start.
  • It does not keep your resume.Your resume is used for this check and is not saved. It is only saved if you choose to build a portfolio from it, in your own account.

FAQ

Resume match checker: your questions answered

Is the resume match checker free?

Yes. There is no signup and no payment. You can run up to 10 checks a day.

Do you save my resume?

No. Your resume is used to run the check and is not saved. It is only saved if you choose to build a portfolio from it, in your own account.

Why is there no percentage score?

Because a precise-looking number would promise more than any matcher can deliver. A level (strong, good, stretch or weak) and the reasons behind it tell you more about whether to apply than "73%" does.

Is this an ATS score?

No. Applicant tracking systems do not give resumes one universal score, and employers configure them differently. This checker compares your resume with the posting on what a recruiter reads first: the role, the required skills, seniority, years of experience and degree.

Which files can I upload?

PDF, DOCX or TXT files up to 3 MB, or paste the text. A scanned PDF is an image with no text in it, so paste your resume instead.

What happens if I sign up?

Seera turns the same resume into a portfolio website and matches it to live jobs from employers' own career sites, each with a written assessment of why it fits and what is missing. Your top 3 matches are free.
